Today we are exploring one of the most beautiful attractions of Lucknow, the Ambedkar memorial park! About the Park-

Ambedkar Memorial Park is a public park and memorial located in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was formerly known as Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Prateek Sthal. The memorial is devoted to B. R. Ambedkar, the first Indian law minister and a polymath of the 20th century.The park also honors the lives and memories of Jyotirao Phule, Narayana Guru, Birsa Munda, Shahuji Maharaj, and Kanshi Ram. The park also has 124 monumental elephants.

The entire memorial is built using red sandstone brought from Rajasthan.Cost of the memorial is estimated at 7 billion rupees

Bollywood Presence- 

Actors Jackky Bhagnani and Neha Sharma were taken aback by the size of Ambedkar Memorial Park during their filming for the 2014 Bollywood production Youngistaan. Aditya Roy Kapur and Parineeti Chopra filmed outside the memorial in March 2014 after receiving permission to do so for the song “Rangreli” from the movie Daawat-e-Ishq.

 At Ambedkar Memorial Park, Ravi Kishan conducted filming for a Bhojpuri movie in November 2015. Lal Dupatta Kurta Chikan Ka, a new song video by Mika Singh and Urvashi Rautela, was also filmed in February 2016 outside the Memorial. Filming for the 2017 film Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana, which starred Rajkumar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda, took place here. 

Features of the park-

The Stupa: A 34-meter-tall sandstone stupa is the main attraction of the park. Dr. Ambedkar’s life and contributions are portrayed in statues and carvings that adorn the stupa.

The Park houses a museum and library devoted to the life and contributions of Dr. Ambedkar. A selection of books and documents pertaining to Dr. Ambedkar’s work may be found in the library, while a collection of artifacts and mementos from his life can be found at the museum.

The Statue of Dr. Ambedkar: The park is home to a massive bronze statue of Dr. Ambedkar, standing 10.6 meters tall.

The Gardens: The park features a number of lovely gardens that are ideal for unwinding in and taking in the tranquil environment. The gardens have been decorated with blooms and vegetation of various species

Entry Fee– The entry fee for Ambedkar memorial park is Rs.20
